Reading is FUNdamental!
Got big plans this summer? Yeah, not same here. I will spend my summer hanging out with my friends at the beach, and low key travel. I am expecting an epic stay-cation this year!
Something I do look forward to is spending some time catching up on reading.
What is your favorite book? I would have to say mine is The Outsider’s. And no, it’s not ONLY because I picture Patrick Swayze when reading it!
As long as I can remember, mom, my sisters and I have loved getting lost in a book. Each one of us love different kinds of books. My momma loves non-fiction or biograghies, Presley likes series, London is a Nicholas Sparks kind of lady, and as for me I am pretty open. I totally judge a book by its cover. If it looks good I’m game for the read. There was always a book in our hands growing up, although busy schedules dictate more of our time now, we all still try to keep up throughout the year. Did you know reading causes, stress relief, memory improvement and improved focus? With that being stated, I’m going to list three books that I plan to read this summer.
The Great Gatsby:
This has been a book that I have been wanting to read for the longest time. I know you’re supposed to read the book before you watch the movie, but I didn’t listen. The Great Gatsby is one of my all time favorite movies. My amazing 16th birthday was Gatsby themed! Combined these things have caused me to long for this read.
To Kill A Mockingbird:
When my siblings were in high school, I constantly heard them talking about this book and how much they loved it. My brother even has a cat named Atticus! This being said, I believe that this will be another classic read for me the summer.
Catcher In The Rye:
This is a book that I have very limited knowledge about. My mom has referenced it many times and I know it was found on the man that shot John Lennon, but that is it. After reading the summary I feel as if this is a book that would really grab my attention. You know, like one of those books you never want to put down.
I do have one book that I have assigned to me for summer reading for my AP Language and that is Truman Capotes, In Cold Blood. Intrigued on multiple levels.
And there you have it! This is the beginning of my first full week of summer vacay! I am so excited to jump the reading rainbow and I hope this summer you will join me and pick up a book or two to read, whether it be while road tripping or sitting on some beach, somewhere... there’s always a chance to read!!
